Young Cultural Ambassadors Sunday Art School

Who: Young people in years 10-13 living in the Canterbury City Council postcode areas 

When: Autumn Term starting on Sunday 26th September from 10am-1pm

Exhibition of student work at Beach Creative will take place in March 2022 (date to be confirmed)

Where: Beach Creative, Beach House, Beach Street, Herne Bay, CT6 5PT

What: This is a free course for those interested in a career in the arts supported by Canterbury City Council with University for the Creative Arts. The aim is to learn many different aspects of art and in doing so to develop a strong portfolio of work to support progression into Further or Higher Education.

The course is in line with Covid guidelines and each student will receive a pack of materials equipment for their own use to minimum risk of infection. You will be able to keep this equipment post-course.

Volunteer at an International Golf Tournament

Volunteer at an International Golf Tournament

Who: Anyone

When: Sunday 11th July 2021 - Sunday 18th July (8.00am starts)

Where: Various locations around the venue in Sandwich

What: An amazing volunteering opportunity at the 149th Open Golf Tournament at Royal St. Georges in Sandwich in July. These are off-course roles and will be based at the venue entrances and exits, and at train stations, car parks and other local areas. The key aim is to guide spectators along their journey, provide them with relevant information and promote the other activities happening in the area. You will receive full training and also have the option of gaining a nationally recognised level 2 qualification.

Ravensbourne University Summer School 2021

Who: Students aged 14+

When: Monday 26th July 2021 - Friday 30th July 2021 from 11am till 4pm

Where: Virtual Summer School on Zoom

What:  This summer school is led by experienced industry professionals and Ravensbourne student ambassadors. You will work towards a project brief whilst having the opportunity to attend a wide range of master classes to boost your creative and digital skills.  

It will be a chance to enhance your portfolio, learn new skills, obtain constructive feedback and be inspired to pursue a creative subject.

Prince’s Trust: Healthcare

Prince's Trust: Healthcare

Who: Young people and Adults aged 18-30, living in Kent. 

When: Programme: 28th June - 16th July 2021

Where: Online via Microsoft Teams and Zoom 

What: The Prince’s Trust have put together a free 3-week online training programme to Get into Healthcare with guaranteed job interviews at the end. You will learn all of the theory needed to meet the 15 Standards of Care Certificate and start your portfolio. You will learn the Employability skills needed to successfully guide you through the application and interview stages. Lastly, you will be able to meet the Employers for ‘A Day in the Life’ session and Q&As.

Prince’s Trust: Get Started with Construction

Prince's Trust: Get Started with Construction

Who: Young people and Adults aged 16-30.

When: Taster Session: 13th July 2021
               Programme: 19th - 23th July 2021

Where: Online via Microsoft Teams for the Taster Day 
                Face to Face in Sittingbourne for the Main Programme

What: The Prince’s Trust have partnered with ENGIE to give you an insight into Construction and help get you ready to be one step closer to employment or further training. You will gain an insight into the construction industry. You will be able to improve your interview and CV writing skills, meet other people interested in construction and you will gain Level 1 Health and Safety training afterwards. You will have access to bursary support to fund CSCS card, PPE and first months travel following the programme and receive six months of ongoing support after the programme to help find employment, education or training.

Prince's Trust: Achieve Programme

Who: Young people aged 16-25 who are not currently in employment or education.

When: Anytime

Where: Online via Zoom and Microsoft Teams

What: The Prince’s Trust have put together an 8 weeks online programme that offers flexibility in where and when you learn. You will gain a level 1 certificate in personal development and employability skills. It is a great stepping stone for anyone wanting to get back into education or for those who would like to build back their confidence before returning to the classroom.

What: There are a possible 100 Opportunities for Young People in Thanet under Kickstart at the moment in Thanet, covering all types of work including:

Full Traineeships from NuYu Academy

Full Traineeships from NuYu Academy

Who: 19 - 24 year olds who are currently not in Education, Employment or Training and live in the Folkestone, Dover, Deal, Canterbury, Ashford and Hythe areas

When: Between now and August 2021

Where: Weekly online lessons via Microsoft Teams or Google Classroom OR face to face classroom sessions in Dover

What: Study Maths and English Courses alongside a Level 1 Qualification in Occupational Studies; take part in a work placement in an industry of your choice and learn more about CV writing, applying for a job and the interview process. You will be supported with a weekly catch up to check you are on track too.

Cafcass - Accountancy Work Experience Placement

Cafcass - Accountancy Work Experience Placement

Who: Young people aged 16-17 years

When: A one week programme from Monday to Friday. There are two separate weeks available on week commencing 26th July 2021 and week commencing 9th August 2021.

Where: The placements take place across the Microsoft Teams.

What: Cafcass (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service) is offering a virtual work experience programme and this year is focused on Accountancy where each day you will learn about different aspects of the work of accountants, try some practical exercises and also have the chance to develop some personal skills. 

Experience in accountancy is not required but an open mind and interest in this as a career choice will help.

How to apply: Complete the Registration Form and email to Resources@cafcass.gov.uk no later than midnight on Tuesday 20th July 2021. You will then get joining instructions with a copy of the programme and some background materials in advance of the week.

What: Want a chance to gain a qualification in Health and Safety plus a CSCS green labourer’s card? The “Be Yourself” Courses and Opportunities is a two day course for young people to take part in and gain skills and experience that is needed in a construction setting. The training sessions are delivered by an experienced instructor in an interactive and engaging way.
