Who: 19+, unemployed and receiving benefits

Where: RBLI centres across Kent

What: The RBLI offers a wide range of vocational courses designed to help you make a start in different industries, improve your qualifications or even just get ready for employment.  Click on the links for more information: Construction, Customer Service, Warehousing and Storage, Retail, Health and Social Care, Employability Level 1, Gateway to Employment, IT for beginners, IT Level 1 and Functional Skills.

Improve your Functional Skills

Who: Learners who want to improve their functional skills; you will need to provide ID and a proof of benefit letter from within 3 months of you starting the course

When: 1st July - 26th July

Where: TDLC Training, 85 High Street, Chatham, ME4 4EE

What:  Functional Skills Level 1 and 2, English and Maths. The courses are delivered through a blended learning mix of lectures, online learning, knowledge tests and assignments.  Attendance for the Level 1 and Level 2 courses is over a 30-hour flexible pro-rata, with an amount of home learning each day. Classroom based learning starts at 10.00am each day until around 3.30pm.  Click here for the course timetable.

Improve your Financial Skills

Who: Learners interested in finding out more book-keeping and keeping accounts for the workplace; you will need to provide ID and a proof of benefit letter from within 3 months of you starting the course

When: 5th August - 30th August

Where: TDLC Training, 85 High Street, Chatham, ME4 4EE

What: Level 1 and 2 Courses in Computerised Accounting for Business with Sage 50 Cloud.   The courses are delivered through a blended learning mix of lectures, online learning, knowledge tests and assignments.  Attendance for the Level 1 and Level 2 courses is over a 30-hour flexible pro-rata, with an amount of home learning each day. Get Started With Photography

 

Who: 16 to 25 year olds looking for ‘on the job’ experience and training

When: Taster Day – 25/06/2019; Main Programme – 01/07/2019 – 05/07/2019

Where: Margate

What: Meet new people and improve your skills by working on a group challenge such as exhibiting pictures taken throughout the week at the end of programme celebration.  Not only will it help you discover new talents and develop new skills, but you could also walk away with a Bronze Arts Award. Get Started With Make-Up

 

Who: 16 to 25 year olds looking for ‘on the job’ experience and training

When: Taster Day - 17/07/2019; Main Programme - 22/07/2019 - 26/07/2019

Where: Chatham

What: Learn about skin care and make-up techniques and discover what makes a successful advertising campaign.  You’ll also have the chance to attend a mentoring session with industry professionals from brands.  Take a look at the flyer here

Cost: Completely free; it doesn’t affect your benefits and all your travel expenses are paid. Lunch is also provided

Care Leaver Summer School at the University of Greenwich

Who: Young People in care in years 11, 12 and 13

When: 2nd July - 4th July 2019, 10.00 am to 3.30 pm

Where: University of Greenwich at Medway (Chatham)

What: Enjoy three days on campus at a non-residential summer school.  Learn about university life, experience a range of workshops, take part in debates and develop personal and practical skills, as well as having fun.  Take a look at the flyer for more information

Apprenticeship opportunities

What: Gain qualifications, get workplace experience and earn a wage - all at the same time! Kent Training and Apprenticeships offer apprenticeships in a variety of sectors and at a variety of levels with a high level of support.  Click here to see some examples of current apprenticeships in Business Administration, Marketing, Customer Service and others!
