Prince's Trust: Achieve Programme

Who: Young people aged 16-25 who are not currently in employment or education.

When: Anytime

Where: Online via Zoom and Microsoft Teams

What: The Prince’s Trust have put together an 8 weeks online programme that offers flexibility in where and when you learn. You will gain a level 1 certificate in personal development and employability skills. It is a great stepping stone for anyone wanting to get back into education or for those who would like to build back their confidence before returning to the classroom.

NCS Summer Programme

NCS Summer Programme

Who: Open to all young people in school years 11 & 12

When: July and August 2022

Where: Multiple venues across the whole of England

What: NCS (National Citizens Service) is a two week experience where you’ll get to have fun doing a range of activities, learn new skills and add something to your CV.

Cost: NCS is government-funded so the cost of it is just £25. BUT…. Virtual School Kent will be covering the cost of this so it’s completely FREE for you to go!

Who: Young People aged 16 to 24 with DWP

When: Ongoing

Where: Thanet Area

What: There are a possible 100 Opportunities for Young People in Thanet under Kickstart at the moment in Thanet, covering all types of work including:

  • Factory Workers
  • Retail / Warehouse
  • Trainee Photographic Assistant
  • Event Operations Assistant
  • Green Keeping Assistant
  • Front of House / Waiting Staff
  • Graphic Designer
  • Kitchen Assistant

Plus many more opportunities.

Cost: Free

How to apply: You would need to talk with your work coach to be referred to any opportunities on Kickstart. This is all accessible through your UC Journal you just have to leave a note asking for advice about KICKSTART.

Fully Funded Courses with Go Train

Who: Anyone

When: Ongoing, start a course within 48 hours of enrolment 

Where: Online

What: Go Train offers fully funded courses in a range of subjects and at a range of levels. Whether you’re setting out on a brand new career path, aiming higher in your job or starting your own business, these courses could help you improve your career prospects. Courses include English, Maths, IT User Skills, Business Administration, Book Keeping and Customer Service.

Be yourself: CSCS Courses and Opportunities

Be yourself: CSCS Courses and Opportunities

Who: Young people aged 16-21 (25 with additional needs)

When: Ongoing

Where: Pentagon Centre, Chatham, ME4 4HY

What: Want a chance to gain a qualification in Health and Safety plus a CSCS green labourer’s card? The “Be Yourself” Courses and Opportunities is a two day course for young people to take part in and gain skills and experience that is needed in a construction setting. The training sessions are delivered by an experienced instructor in an interactive and engaging way.
