What: The RBLI offers a wide range of vocational courses designed to help you make a start in different industries, improve your qualifications or even just get ready for employment.  Click on the links for more information: Construction, Customer Service, Warehousing and Storage, Retail, Health and Social Care, Employability Level 1, Gateway to Employment, IT for beginners, IT Level 1 and Functional Skills.

Prince’s Trust: Enterprise

Who: 18 - 30 year olds.

When: 25th November - 28th November 2019

Where: Maidstone

What: Got a business in mind or want to explore an idea?  Our free Enterprise programme is taking place in Maidstone this November for people aged between 18-30! Opportunity to attend an information session. Free 4 day Explore Enterprise course including HMRC, selling, marketing and bookkeeping. Free travel. 1:1 access to an experienced business mentor to help develop your business plan for up to 3 years. Opportunity to apply for a start up loan!

Free English Courses

Who: Adults aged 18 and over

When: 3.00pm - 5.00pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 29th October 2019

Where: Room Ng07, Newton Building, Canterbury Christ Church University, North Holmes Road, Canterbury, CT1 1QU

What: Free English lessons for anyone who wants to improve.  Tuesdays are for students with lower levels of English.  Thursdays are for students with higher levels of English.  Students can drop in whenever they are able to attend.

Dover Technical College Pre-Access Course

Who: Learners aged 16+ who have a Level 1 or vocational Level 2 qualification and some GCSEs at grade D.

When: Jan/Feb 2020

Where: Dover Technical College, Maison Dieu Road, Dover, CT16 1DH

What: Dover Technical College is offering an intensive one-year course for students wanting to improve their academic skills, including English and Maths, to progress to a Level 3 Study Programme. One day per week will focus on GCSE maths and English so that all students have the opportunity and support to achieve these essential qualifications. Specialist tutors will deliver and interesting and inclusive curriculum that prepares students for the GCSE exams at the end of the year.

Canterbury College Level 2 Carpentry Course

Who: 19+ currently not in education/training. Those receiving benefits.

When: Starting 09/01/20

Where: Canterbury College, Whitstable Road, Canterbury, CT2 9DT

What: Canterbury College are offering a free college course in Carpentry, upon completion you will receive a Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry. The course is 5 hours per week, for 12 weeks.

Canterbury College Level 1 course in Craft Activities to do with Children

Who: 19+ who are currently not in education/training. Those receiving benefits.

When: Course start date 31/10/2019

Where: Canterbury College, Whitstable Road, Canterbury, CT2 9DT

What: Canterbury College are offering a free course in Craft Activities to do with Children. This course is suitable for anyone who enjoys doing craft activities with young children. The course will run for 4 hours a week, for 12 weeks.

Canterbury College Introduction to Working in Adult Social care Level 1 course

Who: 19+ who are currently not in education/training. Those receiving benefits.

When: Course start date 01/11/2019

Where: Canterbury College, Whitstable Road, Canterbury, CT2 9DT

What: Canterbury College are offering a free Introduction to Working in Adult Social Care Level 1 Course. This course will allow you to develop a basic knowledge of the adult social care sector and provide the opportunity to explore to career path. The course will run for 4 hours per week, for 12 weeks.

BAE Systems

Who: 18 - 25 Year olds currently unemployed or not in education/training, living in Medway and the surrounding towns.

When: 4th November - 29th November 2019

Where: BAE Systems Medway site

What: Two weeks will be spent at a BAE Systems site located within the Medway area. Your work placement will include either: Learning about work in a Business support function, such as Procurement, Finance or Commercial Administration Teams Or Working with components and circuit boards, building basic spec products and using machine shop equipment. Improve your teamwork and communication skills and BOOST your confidence. Improve your employability, interview skills and CV writing. Travel expenses paid throughout programme. Learn about job opportunities and apprenticeships at BAE Systems. Receive six months’ ongoing support after the programme.
